Have you been to the grocery store lately? If so, you’ve noticed that food has gone up. This is also true in Uganda, where the global food crisis and record inflation are hitting the poorest Ugandans hard. Spending on food alone has more than doubled, using up to 40% of the household earnings of the already impoverished. This has created a situation of unprecedented need in the rural communities we serve. Parents and guardians who could once afford to feed and educate their children are now pulling them from school. It’s a heartbreaking choice: feed your child now, or educate them for their future?
